Who We Are....

Dharmagiri Vikas Society is constituted in the year 1977 and registered under Travancore – Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Act 1955 (Reg. No. ER 2/79) Dated, January 3rd 1979. The Society is run by the congregation of the Medical Sisters of St. Joseph – St. Joseph’s Province, Kothamangalam.  Rev. Sr. Jacinta M.S.J. was the founder and Pioneer President of the Society.  She followed the footsteps of our beloved founder of the congregation very Rev. Msgr. Joseph C. Panjikaran in spreading the kingdom of God through the service of the poorest of the poor in our area.  Dharmagiri Vikas society is proactive in introducing new approaches and practices in the development and rehabilitation based on the need and priority of the weaker sections and marginalized from time to time.  Over the past years the society was focusing on development, welfare, rehabilitation, health, housing, sanitation, and other activities.  DVS has been continuing its intervention in the welfare and rehabilitation activities with a holistic vision.  The society becomes the shelter, shape and share for the women and children with difficulties.

The aims and objectives

    1. To conduct educational, social, cultural and charitable activities.
    2. To provide shelter, education, training and rehabilitation.
    3. Services to orphans, destitute, tribal, all the deprived and marginalized, poor and unorganized group
    4. To encourage the habit of self-help and thrift among the people.
    5. To provide for adult education.
    6. To help the needy and the differently abled.
    7. To take up comprehensive community development projects.
    8. Networking and multi-institutional collaboration and linkages.
    9. Integrated health care and holistic development .
    10. To support and organize the small and marginal farmers especially the tribal to promote the sustainable management of the natural resources.
